The bottom line is all the same do something very serious and choose something very important to be serious about. This also leads to a happy life as you have tagged yourself to a goal and not people. Not everyone is the same and no one can only be dependent on you. Everyone has commitments and they owe something to someone so they will be busy at time, while fulfilling other commitments they might hurt you, so ignore and more forward. The logic says people have to upheld you 9 times out of 10 times. We cannot find a person who does it 10 times out of 10 then he has only life that is you and you would not wish that as it becomes too much at times. Do not get disappointed and spread it across.
